This week we take on the Alpe du Upton Warren on a bespoke route where a lot of climbing has been deliberately avoided. Due to the big efforts that will be undertaken on the Saturday preceding, quite a few of the attendees will be using this as a recovery ride. Haters gonna hate but summer needs a challenge. Without being unachievable this route has challenges aplenty. The target this week is the delightful Willows Cafe in Ditton Priors, that erstwhile backwater which makes other backwaters look positively metropolitan in comparison. To celebrate the summer solstice we are having a special evening ride to watch the last sunset before the days shorten again. The idea is to head out past Bromsgrove and up the Lickey Hills which will (should) afford a great view of the setting sun across our shire. This week the B ride is a gentle bimble around the lanes on a bespoke route that won't trouble the legs. Starting from the club as per usual, the route follows the west side of the river from Stourport to Larford Lakes and Shrawley before heading towards Martley. A nice steady run through Wants Green to Lower Broadheath and a cafe stop at the Cobhouse Fisheries after 36km. The return leg follows lanes through Wichenford to Grimley. A few miles…
