Spring and summer race programme Previous item Race results- January and... Next item Reliability rides 2020

Dear club members

I have spoken with a number of you at different points last year regarding our summer race events programme. Many of you said that you were keen to help and support the events this year but wanted us to give you all as much notice as possible to plan diaries and asked us to try and space out the youth and adult races as much as possible.

As a committee we have taken that on board and I wanted to give you the dates as early as possible for the 2020 season now they have been locked down with both the club and British Cycling. We have also now deliberately spaced out our race programme to ensure that we only run one per month over the spring and summer period.

The first big event will be on April 4th where we will host round 2 of the West Midlands Youth Circuit Series at Stourport. This is a great event and we expect to get a big field of youth riders from U8-U16 including many on our own talented club members. I will be the event organiser for this race

On the 10th May we will be hosting the Wyre Forest Challenge Road Race on the Martley circuit, which will include a men’s 3/4 event in the morning and a ladies 2/3/4 race in the afternoon as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting women’s racing.

Sunday 14th June will see us host the Jean Baker Memorial Trophy on the Astley circuit, which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of this event. This will be a men’s 2/3/4 race as part of the West Midlands series. Mike Haddon will be the race organiser for both the Martley and Astley races.

Our final club event will be an open time trial on the K46/10 course on 5th July 2020 and will follow the same successful format that we have followed for the last two years. Sue O’Shaughnessy will be the organiser for this event.

As always it is only possible to run these events with you help and support and if people are able to help at any of these events then please get in touch with the event organisers, particularly with myself in relation to the youth event on the April 4th which is first on the calendar.
