It was a busy week of racing with riders involved in criterium races, the club open TT race and the final round of the West Midlands youth series illustrating the breadth of riders competing across the club.
On July 10th Beacon RCC hosted the latest round of the Tuesday night series at Stourport and Samuel Jones finished in a strong 5th position and needs just a single point to secure his second category licence. Jono Goulding also had another good race finishing in 8th place and also picking up more points.
Club Open TT Severn Stoke
On the 14th July the club hosted an open 10 mile TT on the K46/10 Severn Stoke course. In sunny and warm conditions this was a fantastic event, superbly organised by Sue O’Shaughnessy, and was the first time that the club has hosted an open Time Trial in a number of years. It was great to see a number of WFCRC riders taking part in the event with a total of 11 members out of the 48 that finished across all categories. Andy Knight, newly joined member, was the quickest club rider on the day with a time of 22m 30s. The overall winner was a also a familiar face with WFCRC member and club coach Jon Howard, riding for Team Echelon, recording a rapid 20m 34s. Final League Positions
WFCRC secured a fantastic 3rd place overall in the league standings out of the 24 clubs that took part. There were particularly great results for Harry Lane, Ruby Bentley, Joe Greening, Jenson Groves and Posie Forrester who all secured podium places for their overall championship positions and a particular mention for Aimee Lane who has ridden superbly throughout the series to win the U16 girls title.
