To B Or Not To B Sportive

August 25 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Following on from conversations with club riders over the summer we can now present the To B or not to B sportive ride

To quote Old Will

To B, or not to B, that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The hills and undulations of outrageous topography,
Or to make cadence against a sea of gravity
And by opposing end them. To rest—to sleep
The idea behind this adventure is to provide an opportunity for riders to achieve a century without the pressure of an organised event or fundraising. The ride will be lead by the B group and paced according to those attending. There are a couple of stipulations though. 100 miles is not for beginners, ideally you will have ridden 50-60 miles previously in one day.
The route has been chosen to avoid long or steep climbs as these can be energy sapping on long rides. There will be some climbing. We can’t avoid that.
The pace is aimed at around 13-15mph. It maybe slightly faster depending on those attending and fitness levels.
We will wait at major junctions but all attendees must have the route on a satnav or paper maps to prevent wrong turnings. The route is not signposted.
We will supply encouragement in bucket loads to help you achieve the century.
The route takes us via Alcester to Stratford Upon Avon for our first rest stop (about 55km) before turning SW and skirting the foot of the Cotswolds past Broadway and Winchcombe. The route then flattens out as we head to Tewkesbury and our second rest stop (110km). Heading north we bypass Worcester and through the lanes to Droitwich and head back to Stourport.
