D80 Ultra Cob (102.1km) 8
September 1 @ 7:30 am - 2:00 pm
In the beginning there was the Cob Ride. Then came Super Cob and Turbo Cob. Now, after extensive planning and lab tests, we now have Ultra Cob. It’s like a normal Cob ride, but much more canal, much more pedalling, more hills, more achievement points and a sense of satisfaction at some extreme towpathing.
We have locks, gates, tunnels and Birmingham to go through, near prisons, near fishermen and jogging medical students. The majority of the route follows the towpath but we have a stretch of disused railway between Wombourne and Wolverhampton and some parks in Birmingham before climbing up over Waseley Hills. The descent takes us down bridleways in Clent back to the canal and the Anchor at Caunsall for cobs and a pint (3pm limit). If we miss the Anchor we will go to the Lock at Wolverley, turning into an UltraBurger ride.
Suitable for Gravel Bikes, CX, MTB and Hybrid….plus a tough tourer if the weather is dry
Start location Clensmore Bridge https://goo.gl/maps/rWtGhr9pbnn
