Due to the unbridled success of our recent Dusk til Dawn ride the interest in night rides has risen exponentially. Clearly not everyone has the time to commit to riding through the night so the specialist B Ride ThinkTank ™ have formulated an idea that should be acceptable to a lot of riders.

This is not a cut down, part time epic, but a fully fledged Fondo distance ride undertaken in the evening with the aim of finishing around midnight. Eagle eyed readers may have worked this out from the title, kudos if it was you.

The format is standard, the start time less so.

Starting from SSC we head west on a steady upwards trajectory through Hartlebury, Chaddesley and on to Catshill to tackle Redhill Lane climb into Rubery. An equally steady descent takes us through Barnt Green and onto Alvechurch where there will be an opportunity to take refreshments at the Co-op store. We continue west towards Tanworth in Arden and the south through Ullenhall to Alcester, where a 2nd stop is available if needed. This time courtesy of Messrs Tesco & Son. Stage 3 takes us past Ragley Hall and through the Lenches via Bishampton, reaching our 3rd stop near Pershore. Then run home is via easily graded roads to Droitwich and to the club (or your prefered destination).

There’s about 5 hours ride time plus stops so departure will be at 18:30. Tools and tubes will be needed and some suitable clothing if the temperature drops. With 3 potential stops there shouldn’t be a need for loads of supplies to be carried but it’s personal choice how much you take.

You will need lights, preferably two for each end and/or battery pack.

As before we ride together for safety but familiarise yourself with the route beforehand. Constant rear lights please as flashing is distracting to those riding behind. Be aware that potholes and street junk is harder to spot at night and stopping distances are increased. We descend carefully at all times.
