B207 The White Stream (62.09km) 15

May 2, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

It’s Sunday, and what better way to exercise body and mind than to join the merry band of WFCRC B Riders.

Our route this week is entirely new for 2021 and features parts not yet reached by our weekly raiding party.

Leaving the SSC via Stourport town centre we head SW through the lanes (plus a short section of main road) to Abberley. Locals will know this to be uphill but the climb is not too severe. Once over the top there is a long downhill to Stockton where we turn left to head south via Shelsley.

This drops us at the main climb of the day, Clifton Bank. A steady climb on a good surface (it was last time I went up) of around 3km. Average gradient is around 5-6% with a bit of 9-10%. An excellent climb to tick off your wishlist, and the views from the top are rather nice too (weather dependant).

When we get to Clifton we descend for over 8km into the village of Whitbourne (The white stream of the title). We then have a short section of main road that takes us past the bottom of Ankerdine before a short climb on lanes into the hinterland of Martley and on to a well deserved break at the Cobhouse Fisheries.

The return leg heads via Wichenford, Holt Fleet and Lincomb on our way home. Very little climbing on this part so should be nice and steady.

The climb rating might seem high but it’s due to the shorter distance. Do your legs a favour and join us on Sunday.
