WFCRC administrator Embarassingly overkooked by me (PP ), Joshua Papworth is currently in 2nd place in the Youth National Cyclo-Cross Rankings.   The Development Squad has taken Wyre Forest CRC upto regular podium finishers in National events in little over 6 months! Proof that the squad has a great set of riders onboard!      http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3023 Thu, 20 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 PREVIEW: WMCCL Rd8, Sun 23rd Nov WFCRC administrator     Wyre Forest should be out in full force again on Sunday as Cross returns to the West Midlands League at Elmdon Park, Solihull for Round 8.   In the U10s race, William and James Pedersen will be in action and we hope Larisa Smith will be lining up for her 3rd race of the season too.   In the U12s race, its hoped Marcus Hamer will ride and give WF some representation in that race.   Back from National Trophy duties, Josh Papworth lines up with James Plant in the Youth race. While Josh will be out to take the overall win, young James will have his own battlein the U14 category.   The Vets/Women/Juniors race should see a full team out including League leader, Jasmine Adams aswell as Joe Rowe, Ian Wright, Lorenzo Buratti, Mike Cooper, Martin Tinsley, Mike Hopkins and Mick Gray.   The Senior team is a man down with Elliot Dinsdale absent but league leader, Phil Blacker will be looking to maintain his lead. He'll have company in the shape of Salim Abuteir, Chris Morris, Mark Leyland and Paul Prince. Pete Yates hasn't been a regular this season but may turn out too. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3024 Thu, 20 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 Roach - leading U23 Cross rider WFCRC administrator After Sundays performance at Mallory Park, Ben Roach is now 10th overall in the National Cross Rankings and leading U23 rider. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3021 Wed, 19 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 CLASSIFIEDS: - CORIMA AERO WHEEL SET WFCRC administrator Bill moore has added a Classified Ad http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3022 Wed, 19 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 AGM Round up WFCRC administrator The 32nd Annual General Meeting of the club was held last night at a new venue in Mustow Green, which proved be good place to have it. A good number of members turned up which was good to see.   The meeting kicked off at 8pm and ran very smoothly without any contention, just healthy debate which was very refreshing. The Committee had an overhaul, with an impressive influx of new blood which should bring a host of new ideas into the club.   For the benefit of those that weren't there, here is a simple breakdown of how the Agenda panned out.   1. A good performance in his National Trophy race yesterday was always a big ask for Josh Papworth, but our Development Squad starlet put in a performance which belied his tender 15 years of age.   A powerful start up the home straight at Mallory Park and Josh took command of the race straight from the gun. With his nearest rivals getting into trouble on the first off-camber section, Josh capitalised and opened up a healthy lead. A string of chasers began to claw their way back to him mid-race with only Hugo Robinson able to make the junction. With 2 laps to go and Josh was beginning to show signs of fatigue and his main rival, the series leader Max Sykes began to make inroads into him. Last lap and Robinson was clear to take the win but Josh was fading fast but found something deep down and held on to take an incredible 2nd place overall.   Without Revolution 21 in his legs, he would surely have torn the field apart - awesome stuff to watch.     http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3016 Mon, 17 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 RESULT: National Trophy Rd4 (Vets), Sun 16th Nov WFCRC administrator Wyre Forest had 3 riders in the 50+ race at Mallory Park yesterday. Ian Wright was gunning for victory 2 from 2, Joe Rowe was looking to get his Trophy campaign off the ground and Mike Cooper made a rare NT appearance.   Ian had an awesome start, quickly putting daylight in-between himself and perennial winner, Roy Hunt and forged a sizeable lead after the first lap. Joe was in the mix early on too, evidence he was maybe on a good day. Mike was riding well in the slippy conditions made hard by some nasty off-camber sections. Mid-race and Ian was clear and looking like 2 from 2 was on the cards. Hunt had pinned his lead but couldn't make any progress. A few mistakes by Rowe and a heavy crash cost him some places but he toughed it out like he always does. In the closing stages, a crash cost Ian the lead and Hunt took control to take the win with Ian 2nd. Rowe finished well in 7th despite a far from perfect race for him and Mike had a good race finishing well.    http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3017 Mon, 17 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 RESULT: National Trophy Rd4 (Seniors), Sun 16th Nov **WIN** WFCRC administrator        It was a day of mechanicals for the Seniors at Mallory Park yesterday. Paul Prince rolled a tub while warming up on the course and shortly afterwards, Mark Leyland snapped his rear mech forcing him to use his spare bike and use Josh's as a spare and in the race itself, Tom Payton's pedal fell off. Only Ben Roach made the day through without any problems.   At the start, Ben scorched off the start line and led the entire field onto the singletrack. Tom, Paul and Mark were caught up in the early traffic and lost some ground on the leaders but as things strung out Tom made some good progress leaving Paul to labour out another ride and Mark not far behind either. After his pedal fell off, Tom made a long-run to the pits which obviously cost him. Paul was doing battle in his little group and got the better of most of them to finish 30th. Tom finished 35th and Mark a place further back in 36th (with a broken spoke!). Ben was the ride of the day, 12th overall and 1st U23 rider.     http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3018 Mon, 17 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 National Cross Rankings - Closing in on Top 10 WFCRC administrator Ben Roach and Jasmine Adams-Friend are on the verge of breaking into the Top 10 in National Cyclo-Cross Rankings.   Both lie in 11th place currently with Jaz 6 points off 10th and Ben only a point. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3012 Fri, 14 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000 COMMERCIAL: Hotel Gran San Bernardo Offer WFCRC administrator Hotel Gran San Bernardo - HGSB Newsletter     Early Bird Special The holidays are quickly approaching and as we do every year we are running an Early Bird Special. The Vets 50+ race, has Ian Wright and Joe Rowe lined up for battle. Ian won the last round in Ipswich with a last gasp catch of perennial favourite Roy Hunt. Another win and he'll be knocking on his door for the series overall. Joe is currently recovering from an injured wrist and skipped last weekend's Sanders Park cross as a result. Lets hope the rest does him good on Sunday.   The Senior numbers are down with Elliot Dinsdale absent. Paul Prince and Mark Leyland are the Wyre Forest riders in the Seniors race. Paul hasn't had a good trophy since Round 1 and is looking to put in a decent ride along with Mark.   In the U23 Competition, Ben Roach and Tom Payton compete. Ben is in great form at the moment and has Tom snapping at his heels. There's no reason to doubt either or both couldn't podium on Sunday. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3009 Thu, 13 Nov 2008 00:00:00 +0000
