Lorenzo's performance lifted him to 4th overall in the veterans championship and 3rd in his age category. In the 70 years and over class Mick Gray, at 74 years old, is still winning trophies.  Although missing several earlier rounds he rode consistently throughout the rest of the season and won the final race to secure 1st place in the championship.   Final championship positions Under 10  Emile Alexander   26th out of 127 riders Youth       James Plant         20th out of   83 riders                  Marcus Hamer     50th out of   83 riders Veteran    Lorenzo Buratti      4th out of 197 riders                 Joe Rowe             38th out of 197 riders                  Mike Hopkins       54th out of 197 riders                  Martin Tinsley       56th out of 197 riders                  Mike Cooper       149th out of 197 riders                  Mick Gray          1st in 70+ category Senior       Phil Blacker         20th out of 117 riders                  Richard Lomas     50th out of 117 riders In the team competition Wyre Forest CRC finished 9th out of a total of 102 teams.   http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3558 Fri, 05 Feb 2010 00:00:00 +0000 The Wyre Forest Stinger WFCRC administrator The new website for The Wyre Forest Stinger is now live, and ready to take your entry. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3555 Mon, 01 Feb 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Red Lion reliability ride 7th Feb WFCRC administrator NEXT SUNDAY 7th FEB First group is off at 9.00am from the Red Lion Inn, Bobbington, DY7 5DU Last Starters will be 9.30am Entry: £5 Free drink (pint or tea/coffee) at the end!! http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Red-Lion-Reliability-Route same as last year   I have just finished the medication from last year: Smithy http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3556 Mon, 01 Feb 2010 00:00:00 +0000 SSC Track update WFCRC administrator There is a presentation / update at the Stourport Sports Club Monday 25th from 6.00pm onwards It would be great if you could make it and show the clubs support for the project in general and our new track in particular. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3551 Tue, 19 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Through & off riding @ 7.00pm new starting place WFCRC administrator Now meeting at Habberley  Road car park ( near Baxter College) by the playing fields, and the circuit is different   Starting this Tuesday 19th January and every Tuesday and Thursday until further notice. John Clarke is starting a through & off  circuit training ride.   The idea is to get some practise at through & off riding, at near race pace and close quarters riding as a racing group. This is not a burn up, but is intended as race practise. As we all get confident we can increase the pace but will play it by ear each ride. We don’t want to shell riders out the back, that’s not the intention so it will be quick club run pace. If you need a breather the pace can drop until you recover.     http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3552 Tue, 19 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 CTT Handbooks have arrived WFCRC administrator CTT Handbooks have arrived Mick will be at the club on Monday night if you would like to collect (bring some cash) Also if you haven’t already done so, I will be available to receive your club subs.   Drop me a line if you can’t find the paperwork. http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3549 Sat, 16 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Danny MacAskill video WFCRC administrator In case you have not heard of Danny MacAskill  watch this video  - amazing     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z19zFlPah-o&NR=1&feature=fvwp   Don’t try this at home http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3548 Sun, 10 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Notice from BC 2010 National Cyclo-Cross Championships WFCRC administrator Notice of postponement due to adverse weather conditions   After extensive consultation with the Birmingham City Council Safety Advisory Group, event organisers and the suppliers of the event services it has reluctantly been decided that it is now necessary to postpone the 2010 National Cyclo-Cross Championships.   The decision to postpone the event has not been taken lightly and comes after extensive daily discussions with all parties. The decision is made entirely on the grounds of public safety after considering all the issues concerning vehicle movements & the supply of services into Birmingham’s Sutton Park.   At this time it is agreed by all parties that whilst the course itself may well be capable of holding the racing events the access roads into the parks have some very serious problems due to ice & snow conditions and the forecasts for sub zero temperatures & more heavy snow on Sunday leave little choice.   In addition to this, the accessibility of essential services such as ambulance cover, event vehicles, temporary toilets, gantries & crowd barriers have proved impossible to guarantee.   It is under these circumstances that it has been agreed that the race will be postponed.   After consultation with organisers, officials, rider representatives & members of the BC & the UCI Cyclo-Cross Commissions it has been agreed that the re-scheduled National Championship events will now be held on the weekend of the 6th & 7th of February at the same venue.   All programme details for the National Championships will remain the same and entries will be carried forward to the revised date.   Birmingham City Council have made every effort to try to make the event happen, and have been extremely helpful in accommodating the rearranged date at short notice.   Riders unable to make the rescheduled event may apply for a refund of their entry fee by e-mailing cxrefund@britishcycling.org.uk, or writing to BCHQ.  Requests for refunds must be received by 12 noon on Friday 15th January.  No additional entries will be accepted. Again please do not attempt to contact organisers, officials or Birmingham City Council at this busy time. All information relevant to this and the re-scheduled event will be posted as soon as it becomes available http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3547 Sat, 09 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 VC Sevale Reliability Trial Sunday 11th Cancelled WFCRC administrator Check its on before you go   http://www.sevale.co.uk/ http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3546 Fri, 08 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Club Kit Button / Secretarial up-dates WFCRC administrator Please note I have added the club Kit button to the home page.  It was added a few weeks ago but now contains kit size guide, order form and stock sheet.  Dave Briggs is the man to contact if you would like to place an order, email Dave on   kit@wfcrc.org.uk.   PS Memberships cards will be posted this week, don’t forget to post your renewal form to me  before the new season kicks off. I can email replacement forms if required- just let me know. Obviously you need to be a WF member to race in WF colours.   Happy new year.   John http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3543 Mon, 04 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation 27/02/2010 WFCRC administrator Saturday 27th  February Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation. Venue Stourport Manor Hotel. £22.50 ( amended)  Organiser: Aaron McCulloch   social@wfcrc.org.uk   Apart from me, and my dragon,  is there anyone else going? Aaron desperately needs to know numbers to book the venue.   This is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends and cycling colleagues. The club dinner gives us the opportunity to show our appreciation to the trophy winners who have worked hard through 2009. (It might be you next year.) This event represents the glue that holds the club together and will be a cracking night with a brilliant after dinner speaker. Members old and new, family, friends and colleagues all welcome and @ £22.50 per head, good value for money. I know it can add up but it’s once a year and strangely you always remember the club dinner (depending on alcohol intake of course, we are all “trained athletes” “my body is a temple”) Not to be missed get in touch with Aaron social@wfcrc.org.uk   to book your tickets. Raffle prizes will be much appreciated, see you there.       http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3544 Mon, 04 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 Boxing Day Cross Results WFCRC administrator 3 WF riders braved the icy conditions of Kennilworth Common for the 56th Coventry CC Boxing Day Cross.    The weather was never going to be a reason to cancel what is the longest running cross event in Britain so Lorenzo Buratti, Phil Blacker and Martin Tinsley lined up for an hour of steep drop-offs, technical single-track and tarmac for the 11.45 start.    The usual finish clearing was by-passed due to being an ice rink but conditions on the rest of the course were fast and slippery as the weather turned bright and sunny.   Once the 1st, frantic lap was completed, riders settled into their rhythms and began their own personal battles whilst Darren Atkins and, eventual winner, Dan Booth put on a show of skill and strength.    Several non-finishers were testament to the extreme demands of the course but Martin fared well, finishing 37th overall and 5th in the V50's.    Lorenzo's battle was not helped by a back injury from a recent crash on the road but his dogged determination and bike skills carried him to 23rd overall and 5th in the V40's.    Phil had a good ride and, despite 'a couple of offs', held on to 3rd in the early stages of the race. However, youth won over experience and Phil lost a couple of places to Matthew Barrett (Team Raleigh Avanti) and Jamie Harris (Cult Racing) to take another WF 5th and his best ever placing in the event.   Results here: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web/site/BC/Bridge/calendar_results.asp?evt_cp=1&evt_mode=2&evt_id={1369234F-195C-4BDC-B6B2-5524478CD3D1}&evt_seriesid=&evt_myevents=No&RefID=&RefType=&evt_year=2009&evt_month=Any&evt_kw=&evt_regions=All+Regions&evt_disc=&evt_class=&evt_cat=&evt_series=&evt_resultspp=40   Video link  of the race highlights http://www.mikevaughancycles.co.uk/info/boxingday.php http://wfcrc.org.uk/index.php?nid=3545 Mon, 04 Jan 2010 00:00:00 +0000 2010 Reliability Trial Calendar button WFCRC administrator I have added a 2010 Reliability Trial Calendar button to the home page with some of the local  rides listed.
